Lemonade (Rough Draft) The Story Continues

The King surveyed his troops.  It was a ragtag force.  Kids and young men, nobody older than 16.

“Thank you all for coming.  I’m gonna spell it out for you guys real simple.  We have our stands okay?  Our stands is where we do our business.  You guys got that?”    The king spoke and looked around at his boys.   The boys in front of him nodded nervously.

“Right, we do our business at the stands.  The stand is where we sell.”  The king spoke.  He looked at his boys and tried to make eye contact with each one of them.  He wanted to let them know the importance of his words.

“Each stand will have a little and a big.  One little guy and one big guy.  One and one.  The little guy handles the lemonade and the big guy handles the goods.  We are gonna be sure these stands are made of wood.   And each stand will also have a bat beneath it, a wooden bat.  That is there for our protection.”

The King continued on, ” We are gonna have burner phones alright?  Just flip phones.  Do not give your phone number to anyone except people in our operation.”

“These are our burner phones and how we are gonna communicate.  You can text okay?  But, if this stuff is sensitive then DO NOT send the info with a text.  You can call me okay? You boys got that?  Make a phone call!”

The King spoke some more, ” What we do here is simple.  We have sugar and we have sugar.  We hide in plain sight.   You boys got it?”

Boys.  We are here to make money.  Okay?  The goal is to get the money.

But you kids need to know there will be risk.  If you think the police or your parents are suspicious and want to get your phone, then BREAK IT!  you got that?  Break the phone, we can’t have authorities get it.

Don’t be afraid to destroy the phone.  These phones are cheap.

Lemonade Time (Continued)

“So what do you guys think?”

“Will you pay us?”   The big one asked.

“Oh Yes of course.”  The King said.

“We will always be paid?”  The less big one asked.

“Yes Yes you will always get paid.”  Said the King.

The King continued you on speaking.  “Yes you two will be getting paid.  I need some guys who have some muscle to work for me.   I predict that I am going to start gaining a little bit more profile and get a little bit more popular.   I will need some guys that I know who can step in and help me out when things get, how could I say, um ‘dicey.’ ”

“What do you mean?”   The big one asked.

“I think with the clients that I will have, there will be a need for protection.   Sometimes things will get heated and I am going to need to know that I will be safe.    Do you understand Fudge?”  The King asked.

“Yes sir.” Fudge said.

“What about you Lug?”  The King asked the smaller guy.

“Yes sir.  I understand.”  Lug responded.

The King seemed pleased.   “Very good boys.  I will organize the schedule so you two will know when I need protection.  I think it will be a little bit slow at first.   Also, when you two address me, I would like it to be ‘sir’ or ‘boss’ or ‘boss-man’     Do you guys got it?”

Fudge looked at him.   “Yes sir Boss Man we got it.”

“Boss, I just can’t do it.” Poindexter said.

“Listen up Poindexter, we need your smarts on this.” The King let him know.

“I just think what we are doing is wrong and I just can not do it.” Poindexter exclaimed.  He walked out.

As he was leaving the building he walked past Candy.  Candy knew how to dress to impress.  At least how to impress 15 year old boys.

“Where you going Poindexter?” Candy asked.

“The movies!” Poindexter exclaimed and kept on walking.

“Candy get in here!” The King yelled.

“Whaddya need Johnny?” (Candy)

“Candy, we really need Poindexter on our side on this one.  Maybe you could find him at the movies and um how can I say this … … persuade him?” The King asked.

“You know my rate Johnny for stuff like this.” Candy said.

“Yes Candy, I’ll have the cash for you once Poindexter comes back.” The King said.

… … … …

Candy arrived at the movie theater.  She had changed her top and it was a little bit more revealing (to say the least).  She looked at the movie line-up and knew Poindexter was watching a more cerebral film.  She bought a ticket for “Captain Fantastic” and went to seek him out.  Upon finding the screening room, Poindexter was sitting near to the middle and there was a young couple huddled together (not watching the movie) in the back of the theater.   Candy sat down next to Poindexter.

“Candy.  What are you doing here?”

“Hey Alex.  I wanted to see the movie.  I like movies like this.”  Candy was moving herself a little bit closer to Poindexter.  He did not have his armrest down.

“Did The King send you?” Asked Poindexter.

“No way Alex.  I came here on my own.  I’m surprised you are here.  But … ya know… it’s a happy surprise If ya know what I mean.”  Candy inched a little bit closer to Poindexter.

“Look Candy, I’ve just been having second thoughts about working with Johnny.” Alex Poindexter said.

“Come on Alex.  It’s a good crew.  I think that you’ll find you can have a good time hanging out with the boys… and with me.”   Candy slid her right hand onto Poindexter’s left leg.

“Candy uh – ”

“You don’t have to say anything Alex.  I can handle it.”

Candy then preceded to “persuade” Alex Poindexter in the movie theater.

… … …

Fudge looked over at The King.

“Smart move boss.  Sending Candy after Poindexter like that.” Fudge said.

“You bet Fudge.  Candy just has to work her magic.”   John King had a big smirk on his face.
