Sampras Forehand, Robert Lansdorp and Tennis Training

Pete Sampras had a great forehand.  Many he said he had one of the best on-the-run forehands of all time.   Sampras hit the forehand very flat and he DROVE through the ball often to devastating effect.      His clean hit and clean swing on the forehand side also allowed him to develop a clean attacking approach shot.

Sampras uses what is known as the “Lansdorp Forehand”   it uses a classic grip and does NOT use heavy topspin or a western-grip.    Robert Lansdorp is a famous coach who is a living legend.   He trained Sampras and Davenport and Tracy Austin and Maria Sharapova.

If you want to read some interesting opinion on training I would check out the blog that Robert has (or maybe used to have):     https://robertlansdorp.wordpress.com/philosophy/

Lansdorp he stresses “Discipline”      and he is big on the players being focused.   He also wants the players to spend a lot of time on repetition.   Some might say “ball after ball after ball”          He has a “tough guy” approach and he demands discipline of the player.   I think Lansdorp is a great coach and his track record really speaks for itself.    I am sure he has rubbed many people the wrong way throughout his life BUT I can say for sure, that now, in a time where American tennis is looking weak … and people are asking “where are all of the champions?”     People need to be looking at Robert Lansdorp and his teaching approach.

P.S. If you google Lansdorp or the “Lansdorp Forehand” you can easily find more information about him.

The Leader of Men (November 1st)

The man at the podium was addressing his congregation, “And for He is a merciful Lord! He is a master who knows all!   You must work to be on his good side if you wish to enter his pearly gates.”

The man at the podium continued his Sermon.  The listeners sat in rapture at his words.

The sermon ended and the congregation spread out to enjoy their Sunday lunches.

That night, the man was at home with his loving wife.

She spoke, “Oh, how I love you so my dear!  I think we should have sex tonight if the Lord allows it.”

The man smiled, “The Lord does allow it, I can feel him giving me the nod from up above.”

They had passionate sex.

Beat Pokemon Red No Starter No Legendary

I was able to beat the game.  I beat the game in 23 hours and 14 minutes.

I was inspired by Twitch plays pokemon.  I wanted to see if I could beat Pokemon Red Blue without using a Starter pokemon or a legendary.  Normally when i play I want to use Blastoise or Charizard and then also use Snorlax as well as Zapdos.  Once you get Zapdos the game becomes very easy because you can use Fly and Drill Peck as well as Thunderbolt and that beats SO many pokemon because Zapdos has good stats as well.

So I wanted to see if I could make it through the game without using “good pokemon” I wanted to use pokemon that were “just okay”

When I made it to the Elite Four I wanted to see if I could beat them without using any items to see how my team compared.  I lost to my rival who I named “Gary” I was able to get to his GYRADOS.  (I also like to use Gyrados because it is OP, but my team did not have Gyrados).  I was able to make it to the rival but not beat him on my try and I did not use any items.  My main pokemon was a CLEFABLE, a KADABRA, a VAPOREON, and a Pidgeot.  I also had a low level Nidoking and a low level Omanyte (in tribute to Lord Helix) from Twitch.    Before I went back to try again I wanted to get TM 15 Hyper Beam for Kadabra but I did not have enough money and/or coins in order to get it.

I was basically ready to try again, this time I would use healing items.

On my second time through, I was able to beat the Champion!

My team to win the game was:

Clefable level 68   -Tri Attack, BubbleBeam, Thunderbolt, Metronome

Vaporeon level 48 – Ice Beam and Surf

Kadabra level 56 – Psybeam and Psychic and Recover

Pigeot level 45 – Fly, wing attack, quick attack

Nidoking level 31 – Strength, Thrash

Omanyte level 32  – Water Gun

The AI of the game is not that smart, it doesn’t really take advantage of chances to kill you, which I guess is why TWITCH could win with the Venomoth against Dragonite.  Having my Clefable know TRI ATTACK and Bubblebeam was very important.  Also, Vaporeon with Surf and Ice Beam was important.  And Kadabra is strong.

You can definitely beat the game without using a Starter and you don’t need any Legendaries to win.  You just need some “medium” tier pokemon and good use of the TMS.

(I will admit that Kadabra is a pretty strong pokemon, the game would be tougher if I could not use Kadabra … )

Thank you to all my fans and supporters!
