An interesting film. It was well shot (cinematography). The plot is not overly complicated but the movie does have twists and turns. The film has an interesting tone as well, definitely a “black comedy” as well as a drama. The movie is an original idea and it is an entertaining film. I don’t know if it is one of the BEST movies of 2017, but it was definitely a good movie and I would be willing to watch it a second time.
You might even like this film if you are from Missouri (or maybe maybe even North Carolina)

Gotta Say, Short Term 12 was a great movie. It had MAJOR FEELS! I did not cry but I came close (to crying).
The movie is about life at a facility for teenagers where they live there short term; like 5 weeks up to 3 years. It is supposed to be a “safe environment” where they can live and work through their problems. The movie is basically told through the lens of the main character played by Brie Larson. Her eyes can kill.
If you are the kind of person who feels empathy (and sympathy) for others, then this movie is going to hit you in the heart. The film just works on lots of different levels.
Also, if you consider yourself to be someone who “likes GOOD movies” then I have to give this movie a DOUBLE RECOMMENDATION because of how good it is. It is not a comedy but it does have some humor.
As somebody who has worked with kids and teenagers, I can relate.
BIG RECOMMENDATION from DJ ROBO BISCUIT.

DJ ROBO BISCUIT likes movies. He enjoys watching them. He enjoys pondering them.
Spotlight. Spotlight was a good movie. It had my attention all the way through. It was about the “Spotlight team” at the Boston Globe. They investigated the Catholic Church. I know it sounds crazy but … there were Priests molesting kids. And there were A LOT of priests doing it. Gotta recommend the movie. SPOTLIGHT!
The End of the Tour. This is a movie about David Foster Wallace. He was a genius. And he committed suicide. The movie is the interview between David Lipsky and David Foster Wallace. Obviously, artists become more famous after they die. Based on DFW’s work, he had genius qualities. Also, he was not a perfect person by any regards but as a character study the story is very interesting! I gotta recommend The End of the Tour.
Me and Earl and The Dying Girl. This film was excellent. The style was great. Also, be ready for some FEELS. It will hit you. It serves as a good platform for an interracial friendship and the tender relationship between an awkward teen and a Dying Girl. I really enjoyed the film. It is definitely not your typical high school movie. Two Thumbs up (and as a tribute to Tim Heidecker “I gotta give it 5 Bags of Popcorn.”)
The Talented Mr. Ripley. Fascinating but a little bit sickening. The film was definitely interesting. I find it interesting due to the idea of the relationships and also, the movie is possible because the players within the film are all part of the wealthy elite.
Adult World. The movie has charm. I enjoyed the soundtrack. I liked the way this film FELT. I have a little crush on Emma Roberts. Definitely a great film for recent college grads, I think the film brings value in that way.

Some information on Psychology and with some Philosophy mixed in.
Psychology is the study of the mind and behavior. All humans are affected by psychology. Usually it becomes intertwined with Psychiatry … … which is in regards to mental disorders.
A lot of people think about SIGMUND FREUD. He is one of the early fathers of the discipline. He also helped to develop psychoanalysis. CARL JUNG was also a player with FREUD. Helping to develop the ideas of the “ID” and the “EGO.”
Freud pushed forward the idea of the “libido.” How the human sex drive affects the mind. It’s not too far fetched to produce the claim that Freud just so happened to have sex with some of his older female patients.
Many people find psychology interesting and it leads them to want to understand humans better. This leads them into the realm of the “Social Sciences.” Philosophy, Anthropology, Sociology, etc are the social sciences that people will move into when seeking to develop deeper thought on these topics (Also, Economics is an applied business form of Sociology … Thank you to Adam Smith).
This allows you to look into History. An example is “One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest.” It is a novel that became a famous movie.
Also there is the story of NELLIE BLY, who got herself committed to an Insane Asylum just to be an investigative reporter. http://mentalfloss.com/article/29734/ten-days-madhouse-woman-who-got-herself-committed (that is the article)
Then hopefully an interest in topics of humanity will make you think, “Did humans before me cause things to be the way they are?” The answer: Yes. Further inquiry may cause you to debate the idea of Capitalism vs Socialism. And this will lead you to look at “ADAM SMITH” vs “KARL MARX”
Also, the movies: “Good Will Hunting” and “A Beautiful Mind” as well as “Fight Club” will push forward an interest in Human Psychology. (Marx seen below)

The world needs great films. The human mind also needs great films. Movies that challenge your mind and challenge your thoughts.
Donnie Darko — it stars Jake Gyllenhall. It is a work of film brilliance directed by Richard Kelly. I recommend watching the movie twice and then looking online for a detailed film explanation. A beautiful and complex film.
Dark City — the story of John Murdoch. A tale in a city that is always Dark. The movie is truly ahead of its time and came before THE MATRIX. I highly recommend this film and if you have an open mind you will enjoy it greatly. A LOT of originality.
The Prestige — this movie stars Christian Bale. It is a brilliant film and a story of rival magicians. Are you watching closely?
Good Will Hunting — a Matt Damon film. This movie is intriguing. A story of a gifted genius who is confused at his purpose. It has a lot of classic scenes and I enjoyed it enough to watch it twice.
Fight Club — The cult classic film. Brad Pitt and Edward Norton at their best. I highly recommend it. The movie really sucks you in and you need to watch it from start to finish with your full attention.
Thank you for reading.
