An interesting film. It was well shot (cinematography). The plot is not overly complicated but the movie does have twists and turns. The film has an interesting tone as well, definitely a “black comedy” as well as a drama. The movie is an original idea and it is an entertaining film. I don’t know if it is one of the BEST movies of 2017, but it was definitely a good movie and I would be willing to watch it a second time.
You might even like this film if you are from Missouri (or maybe maybe even North Carolina)

A unique and interesting girl version of “8 mile.” There are definite similarities to 8 Mile (with Eminem) but the film is still unique and stands on its own. It’s still a rap coming-of-age movie but with a girl as the main lead.
The film was entertaining all throughout. The films has some twists and turns that will keep you guessing. In some parts it is kind of formulaic but unless you are a complete movie snob then you won’t be bothered. The lead girl definitely is the standout. The supporting actors are also good.
The real joys in the film come from the rapping scenes because you are rooting for the main character so much (similar to 8 Mile).
Also, I would say the film is very strong in the first hour with a lot happening and with the scenes moving quickly.
If you like movies that have music in them and you like coming-of-age movies then you’ll definitely like Pattie Cake$.
DJ ROBO BISCUIT gives it a 7 out of 10.

“Obvious Child” and “Landline” are both interesting human films starring Jenny Slate. They both have to do with an adult woman trying to deal with real life adult problems. Obvious Child is funnier than Landline. Landline is more like a drama and Obvious Child is a romantic comedy. Both films are sincere and earnest. I recommend Obvious Child over Landline as it is more entertaining. BUT, if you like films that are about people trying to deal with their problems and you kind of like hipster-y women then Landline might be more entertaining.
Some have called Landline “Blase” whatever that means! The two films are well-directed and are interesting enough to have you watch all the way through and you also don’t really know what it going to happen!
If you are a fan of Jenny Slate and you just wish you could see her in the movies then these are two very entertaining films.

Check out the first 3 minutes of this video from Filthy Frank.
It has a nice beat. The rest of the video is pretty trippy.

This film was excellent. It is similar to the films of Miyazaki. This comes from the creator of Digimon so the animation will be similar.
This movie is good for kids and adults. The movie is NOT cliche. It has maybe a twist … maybe a turn or two. I enjoyed it for the master and apprentice aspect in some ways similar to The Karate Kid.
This film is entertaining and has a lot of heart. On my 10 point scale I give it an 8 out of 10.
Warning: It does have violence and some blood (but not much).
He was a prodigy and a genius. Rest in Peace to Aaron Swartz. Cause of Death: Suicide.
One man who collaborated with Swartz once said: “I have never worked with someone who could operate ON THE LEVEL that he could.” He was saying that Swartz had the amazing power of an ultimate level programmer/coder and the ambition of a hardcore activist for change.
He began working with computers at a young age! He was a great worker when it came to “RSS” (whatever that is) HOWEVER, he was collaborating with GROWN ASS MEN and they would e-mail Aaron and ask him questions etc etc etc and they were impressed but he would not come to the face-to-face meetings to which Swartz said: I am a 15 year old kid so my mom won’t let me come. They were blown away, they wanted to meet him even more and they were impressed by his skill and his level of work!
Swartz was one of the key players and original powerhouses when it came to REDDIT. Thank you Aaron Swartz for your work with Reddit!
Aaron Swartz was a powerhouse and a brilliant mind. It is truly sad that he committed suicide because I FEEL that he could have been a force for change similar in strength to Che Guevara or Nelson Mandela. Swartz had that kind of power and force to him.
I recommend the movie: “The Internet’s Own Boy: The Story of Aaron Swartz.” (very fascinating film)

Joy was an excellent film.
What it truly does highlight is how the VERY ambitious JOY must struggle against her own family and her own “circle” in order to become successful.
Joy is almost a representation of ATLAS SHRUGGED by Ayn Rand. They key character – Joy – is a powerhouse. Her mind is full of ideas and entrepreneurial spirit. However, she has been burdened with a family of parasites who drain her.
As the movie is occurring, one truly does fell sympathy and support for JOY because there are so many forces working against her and she can not seem to get a positive break!
I would recommend the movie to anyone who has ever had an idea about making a business or people who like to support others who are in a troubling situation.
Thank you. STAY FLUFFY

Gotta Say, Short Term 12 was a great movie. It had MAJOR FEELS! I did not cry but I came close (to crying).
The movie is about life at a facility for teenagers where they live there short term; like 5 weeks up to 3 years. It is supposed to be a “safe environment” where they can live and work through their problems. The movie is basically told through the lens of the main character played by Brie Larson. Her eyes can kill.
If you are the kind of person who feels empathy (and sympathy) for others, then this movie is going to hit you in the heart. The film just works on lots of different levels.
Also, if you consider yourself to be someone who “likes GOOD movies” then I have to give this movie a DOUBLE RECOMMENDATION because of how good it is. It is not a comedy but it does have some humor.
As somebody who has worked with kids and teenagers, I can relate.
BIG RECOMMENDATION from DJ ROBO BISCUIT.

The Comedy is not so funny.
It is a movie that makes you think. The film is a Rick Alverson production.
The movie explores the world through the character Swanson. He is an aging Brooklyn hipster who has trust fund money.
As the movie progresses he puts himself in more and more risky situations.
The film is trying to explore what life is like when you are a person whose life is a sarcastic life and one that is full of irony. The questions of “Who Am I?” “What should I do with myself?”
As you watch it, it does make you ponder what life is like for a ThirtyIsh year old Trust Fund kid who does not have ambition to capitalize on their good fortune.
