Nuzlocke Challenge Part 2, The Darkest Hour

I was continuing on in my pokemon journey.    I got a Magikarp which I evolved into Gyrados only for purposes of using it for Surf.  I feel Gyrados is too overpowered.

My combination of Pidgeot and Venusaur allowed me to handle Team Rocket with ease and I could use my Pidgeot to handle the 4th gym leader Erica.     I got the Silph Scope and the Poke Flute.  I woke up Snorlax and killed it with my Machop, using Low Kick.

I made my way down the bikers lane to reach Fuschia City.  I went through the safari zone to go ahead and get Surf as well as getting Strength from the Warden with no teeth.

But,  I was just too eager.

I thought I was prepared for My battle with the 5th Gym Leader Koga.

My team going into the battle:

Level 40 Venusaur,  Level 45 Pidgeot, Level 28 Machoke, Level 27 Dugtrio, Level 24 Duduo, and level 20 Gyrados

My plan was to wipe out his team using my Pidgeot.

Koga has a Koffing, Muk, Koffing, and Weezing.  All poison types.   I underestimated the strength of his level 39 Muk.       His MUK had Toxic, Sludge, Acid Armor, and Minimize.

By the time the battle with Koga was done the only pokemon I had left over was my Venusaur !!!!

He wiped out my team using his Muk.    I thought I was done for and his Muk would kill my Venusaur as well but late in the battle I think he ran out of PP on his Sludge attack because he kept on trying to use Acid Armor, Toxic, and Minimize.  Luckily my Venusaur was not affected by Toxic.   So I just barely managed to make it through that battle.

Now I am going to need to grind to get my NEW team up to the proper levels.

My current new team:

Level 40 Venusaur, Level 23 Pigeotto, Level 14 Geodude, Level 15 Gastly, Level 13 bell sprout, and level 5 magikarp.

I shall not give up and my Nuzlocke Challenge shall continue!

Nuzlocke Challenge Biscuit (1)

I decided to embark on a Pokemon Nuzlocke challenge. They are self imposed rules designed to make the game tougher.  Rule 1) you can only catch the first pokemon you encounter in an area. If that pokemon faints then you can’t catch anymore until you reach a new area.   Rule 2) if your pokemon faints then it is dead.  Must go in the PC or get released.

My game of choice is Leaf Green for the Nuzlocke.

I chose Bulbasuar as the starter because he is good for the 1st 2 gyms but he is not powerful overall.

The first pokemon I caught was a Pidgey.

I was moving along and i was excited to encounter a Caterpie which I did catch.  I wanted this caterpie to blossom into a ButterFree so I could use it’s psychic moves.    Unfortunately, when he was a metapod he died.   My first casualty.

I moved my way through the game and my main 2 were my Bulbasaur and my Pidgey.  They soon evolved so they were Ivysaur and Pigeotto.   I was able to catch many Rattata and spearow.   Not lucky enough to encounter a Jigglypuff.     When I got to Cerulean city I ran into a Sandshrew which I caught!   I was pumped.  Sandshrew has great defense and Sandslash is a strong pokemon.

I continued to move through the game.   Ivysaur, Pigeotto, Sandslash, Geodude, Bellsprout.               My Sandslash made easy work of LT surge in Vermillion city.  I also caught a Diglett along the way.

I was able to battle my way through the dark cave, Pigeotto and Ivysaur doing most of the work.

My next blunder was when I entered Lavendar Town.   I should have trained my team a little bit more but I was feeling confident and I went to go fight my rival in the ghost tower.   His team was stronger than I thought and I did not have a good match up for his CHARMELEON!     I sent out my Sandslash to battle but little did I know his Charmeleon possessed the move “Metal Claw”    …. …..    Unfortunately, my Sandslash died in that battle.

I was hoping my Sandslash would stay with me for the long haul.

The game continues.   I still have my Ivysaur, Pigeotto, Machop (dark cave), Geodude, Bellsprout.

To be continued ……
